The 21st Zagreb Film Festival will open with the screening of Seventh Heaven, a comedy by Jasna Nanut about the funny side of a middle-age crisis, on Monday, 6 November, at 7.30 PM in SC Cinema! From Tuesday to Sunday, festival programs will continue in CineStar Branimir, Kinoteka Cinema, MSU, Dokukino KIC, and online platforms kinoeuropa.hr, croatian.film and ondemand.kinomeetingpoint.ba.

During seven festival days, a total of 115 films will be screened in a series of programs, and films from the international feature and short film competition, as well as the Croatian short film program Checkers, will be in the running for the Golden Pram award.

The festival will open with director and screenwriter Jasna Nanut, along with actors Krešimir Mikić, Iva Jerković, Iva Mihalić, Nikša Butijer, Dejan Aćimović, Petar Ćiritović and producer and co-screnwriter Hrvoje Osvadić, after which many guests from the world of film will join them for the festival week in Zagreb.

The drama Lost Country will be presented by Serbian director Vladimir Perišić and lead actor Jovan Ginić, who won the Heart of Sarajevo and Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award at the Critics’ Week in Cannes. Bosnian and Herzegovinian author Una Gunjak, winner of the European Film Academy Award, will present her acclaimed feature debut Excursion.

Slovak author Mátyás Prikler will present his tense political thriller Power, while the Dutch actress Lisa Zweerman will present the film Sweet Dreams by Ena Sendijarević. Marija Dimitrova, producer of Housekeeping for Beginners, and Emily Leo, producer of How to Have Sex will also attend the festival. The film Guardians of the Formula, which will close the official program of the 21st ZFF on Saturday, will be presented by director and co-writer Dragan Bjelogrlić, lead actor Raša Bukvić, and producer Miroslav Mogorović.

The program aimed at film professionals, Industry, will also bring many important guests to Zagreb; the producer of the European hit The Worst Person in the World and member of the feature film jury Renée Hansen Mlodyszewski, award-winning German film editor Bettina Böhler, dubbed by the media as the “incredible invisible woman of German cinema”, and Slovenian director and screenwriter Olmo Omerzu.

Aside from recent hits, award-winners of prestigious world festivals and films of upcoming authors, ZFF’s audience will have the chance to enjoy a few film-lovers’ specials, among which is the screening of a digitally restored Yugoslav classic Life of a Shock Force Worker by Bata Čengić, which will be screened immediately after its Venice premiere.

Ticket sales on site begin 4 November at the main festival box office at CineStar Branimir, while sales at cinemas SC (6 Nov), Kinoteka (7 Nov), and MSU (7 Nov) start with the beginning of the festival. During presale, until 5 November, ticket prices are 1 euro cheaper.
