35-year-old Eve desperately wants to be a mother. After the death of her grandmother, she goes to the island of Lanzarote to fulfil a promise to her grandmother that she would visit the Sardine Burial, a cathartic pagan festival. As soon as she arrives on the rocky island, Eva’s piece is disturbed by the arrival of her girlfriends who immediately start stirring up chaos. And the festival hasn’t even begun yet.

Johanna Caraire studied Fine Arts, History and Information and Communication Sciences. After her studies, she spent some time in Paris working for an audiovisual production company. In 2012, together with Pauline Reiffers, she founded the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival (Fifib), which they have been running for 11 years. Sardine is her debut short.
