{"id":31746,"date":"2021-11-19T14:55:10","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T13:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zff.hr\/?p=31746"},"modified":"2021-11-19T14:55:10","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T13:55:10","slug":"friday-at-zff-with-films-dealing-with-important-issues-of-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2023.zff.hr\/en\/friday-at-zff-with-films-dealing-with-important-issues-of-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday at ZFF With Films Dealing with Important Issues of Today"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":28366,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf_fields":{"page_builder":false,"content":"<p>Today\u2019s finale of the competition program of feature films will present <strong><em>Feathers<\/em><\/strong> by Omar El Zohairy, a black humor drama which won the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI Award at Critics\u2019 Week in Cannes, and the winner of this year\u2019s Karlovy Vary Festival, <strong><em>As Far As I Can Walk. <\/em><\/strong>The director of the film adaptation of this Serbian love epic, Stefan Arsenijevi\u0107, will attend the Croatian premiere at 21 h in SC Cinema, which will be followed by a Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>The feature film competition will feature the Egyptian film <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/feathers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Feathers<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a black humor drama which won the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI Award at Critics\u2019 Week in Cannes, at SC Cinema at <strong>18.30 h<\/strong>. The story of <em>Feathers<\/em> starts with a botched magic trick which turns the pater familias of one family into a white chicken. The film also screens at Tu\u0161kanac Cinema in the morning, at <strong>10.30 h<\/strong>. At the same cinema at <strong>21 h<\/strong>, the program features the winner of this year\u2019s Karlovy Vary Festival <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/as-far-as-i-can-walk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>As Far As I Can Walk<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Stefan Arsenijevi\u0107, a modern interpretation of a Serbian love epic in which a Ghanaian migrant searches for his beloved wife along the Balkan route. For his role Ibrahim Koma, the French actor from Mali, was named Best Actor at Karlovy Vary. The film also screens in the early afternoon at Tu\u0161kanac Cinema at <strong>13 h.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The film about a girl fascinated with space exploration <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/ulja-funk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Mission Ulja Funk<\/em><\/strong><\/a> screens at Urania at <strong>18 h<\/strong> as part of the KinoKino program. When an obstacle presents itself between Ulja and her passion for space, she takes matters into her own hands, finds an ally in a classmate and manages to convince him to embark on a truly unusual adventure &#8211; they start their journey across Eastern Europe in a hearse in order to see an asteroid fall!<\/p>\n<p>The program at Tu\u0161kanac continues at <strong>17 h<\/strong> with the screening of the German representative in the Great 5 program, <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/and-tomorrow-the-entire-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>And Tomorrow the Entire World<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.This exciting thriller, presented at Venice and Toronto, questions the justification of violence on the example of antifascist youth split into two factions, one which advocates non-violent resistance and the other which believes that fighting against the radical right requires equally radical measures. <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/chiara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Chiara<\/em><\/strong><\/a> screens at the same cinema at <strong>19.30 h<\/strong>. This tense drama about maturing won the Europa Cinemas Label Award in the Directors\u2019 Fortnight program at Cannes. The protagonist is the daughter of a mobster who is forced to face the true nature of her family after his disappearance. The block of films from the competition program of international short films starts at <strong>22 h<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/little-portugal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>\u00a0Little Portugal<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/places\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Places<\/em><\/strong><\/a>; as well as two Croatian films in the Checkers program: <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/a-moving-target\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>A Moving Target<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Marko Dugonji\u0107 and <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/everything-ahead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Everything Ahead<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Mate Ugrin.<\/p>\n<p>Friday at &amp;TD Theatre starts at <strong>18 h<\/strong> with the new film by Venezuelan director Lorenzo Vigas <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/the-box\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>The Box<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. Six years after winning the Venice Golden Lion for his debut film <em>From Afar <\/em>(ZFF 2015), Vigas brings a dark psychological thriller about a boy who obsessively tries to enter the life of a stranger convinced he is his father. The program continues at <strong>20 h<\/strong> with <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/small-body\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Small Body<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a film from the selection of the program Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region, which premiered at Critic\u2019s Week in Cannes and is a mystical fairy tale about grieving, death, and healing based on old traditional beliefs in the Alps. Late night at &amp;TD Theatre is reserved for a special screening &#8211; the debut film of director from Bosnia-Herzegovina Emina Kujund\u017ei\u0107 filmed in co-production with Croatia: <a href=\"https:\/\/zff.hr\/en\/movies\/a-perfect-love-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>A Perfect Love Story Where Nothing Goes Wrong or Does It\u2026?<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The screening of the film <em>As Far As I Can Walk<\/em> and the <strong>masterclass <\/strong>of director <strong>Stefan Arsenijevi\u0107<\/strong> from the Industry program starts at <strong>17 h<\/strong> in Kinoteka Cinema.
